When I started drinkin, my first choice was Kodays xxx rum But that decision was made purely due to lack of knowledge and fear as I was entering the bar for the first time and the first brand to see on the self. I challenged my friend and downed the whole quater. worst decision ever made. anyways puked my guts out and swore never to drink cheap rum. tried all other brands and types, din quite give me a good feelin. HANGOVER. felt like wakin up with a 10 kg stone tied to my head. whisky was the worst. gave me muscle fatigue.
Well decided to up my brand. brother got me bottles of JD’s. trust me din make much of a difference. switched to Captain Morgan. loved the drink. but the hangover was the same. I gave up drinking for a while. I have had old monk In between but I never bought it, always at a friends house. one day decided to go for a drink with a friend and started drinking twice or thrice a week and it was always old monk cause it was cheap then I realized that I never gotten a hangover for the past few weeks I was drinking. Later I was so hooked on old monk. I can never give it up. no expensive drink can take my faith off of Old Monk. I have full bottles stacked in my house. best thing about it is a fresh start the next day. no hangover, muscle fatigue, weakness. Nothing at all. if you had too much and dehydrated the next morning just sip on a bottle of Gatorade. I personally prefer the blue bolt flavour. trust me, works wonders.
Old Monk is an everyday drink. Some friends go on about expensive drinks and and the class and crap like that. but I just keep shut, drink my OM and Watch the fun the next day when the other guys are regreting their hangovers. Well I have drunk almost every brand and type. But Nothing like the Monk.I cook a lot and some recipies including cakes and deserts ask for rum. I always prefer Old Monk. And I know some chefs who prefer that too. And to all you guys drinking Monk. Cheers.for the guys who never tried. it’s never too late. Don’t get caught up in the "the expensive the better" Hype. It’s all bull crap. Anyways.am gonna end this with a sip of Monk. Peace!
