In case you sell your product and get conned or you buy a product and seller sells you a defective product, well don’t go crying to OLX as they won’t come to your aid.
OLX with its aggressive promotions over different media channels is trying to lure in customers to sell or buy their product. Though the concept is very appreciative but their lack of governing authority over the sellers or buyers leave the common and genuine people exposed to threat and risk.
People do not tell the exact information about the product and doesn’t list out all of its defects. Like if you are buying a TV set, then it’s seller’s duty to tell me what is wrong with the TV or what part is not working but sometimes they don’t. I such a case if a consumer purchases such a defective product, who is going to be responsible and who will reimburse the buyer for such cheating.
What I feel is that many of the people are fake on OLX and I guess are created by OLX itself to show that they have large no of people selling their product.
I’ll share my recent experience. I wanted to buy a centre table so I thought that why not give OLX a try. Trust me I messaged 5 different people through their chat and only one of them replied telling me that he has already sold the product but hasn’t taken down the add. One of the contact no I took from their site said "This no does not exist. Please check the no you have dialed."
Also the content shared by users is way too brief. Writing’brand new centre table’ with just one photo with flash shining in between the photo isn’t gonna help buyers. I mean I would love to know the material it was built from, when did you purchased and most of all if its BRAND NEW, why are you selling it?
The no of fake users are way too much on this site and OLX is not taking any serious actions to differ them from the genuin ones. People are just putting add on it just for the sake of fun and have no real intent.
I would just say that before taking any action, just ensure that the person you are buying from or selling to is genuine and that person isn’t calling you just for the fun of his boring time.
