My first trip to the Olympia restaurant at Colaba took place around 15 years back.I was told by a mutual friend that this is a super restaurant, how super I did not realise till then.Today, I bless that friend of mine.Ok then, let’s cut back to that first visit.I entered the place at around 12.30PM and it was chaos everywhere.Waiters were running everywhere shouting out bill amounts and scurrying off to bring new orders.As usual, I am a heavy eater.So first I ordered an omlette and bread.Then came the big surprise.I ordered for Mutton Masala.Now they have 2 versions of it.One is plain mutton masala and second is mutton masala fry.Mutton masala fry tends to be a bit oily but never mind, if you are having it once a month no problem.If you order a full plate then it costs you 34 bucks and it is worth every rupee spent.Full plate ensures that you have good lean mutton pieces, 6-7 of them including one nalli.Nalli is the bone marrow piece which every non-veg hog will swear by.At least I do.One piece of advice my friend.If you are one of those people who cannot by without a fork and spoon then this restaurant is not for you.If you want sophisticated crowd around you forget it.Of course, you will be surrounded by office goers of every colour and hue but then who has got the time to stand and stare?It is a totally functional place where you cannot take your girlfriend/boyfriend and whisper sweet nothings in the family room.For this you can go to the Excelsior restaurant at VT opp.the NEW EXCELSIOR CINEMA.They have plenty of family rooms reserved for such dalliances.Well, to cut it short, I really advise those who feel comfortable in such restaurants to go ahead and have a good time.The food is absolutely paisa vasool.
