Olypub, Park Street. I found it quite seedy. The drinks are cheap but it is a bit of a dodgy place. The ambience is not the greatest unless they have tidied up a little bit recently. Was not much of a fan of their music either. I found the staff to be quite polite, though.
The crowd consists of groups of friends whether it be mixed or otherwise - as opposed to couples. Basically, not really somewhere you would take your girlfriend on a date to.
On the other hand, it’s an economical, casual time. You won’t feel out of place if you are not dressed up to the max. The food offered is not fine cuisine but goes down well with the beer. It is good for students on a budget. If you are going bar-hopping on a guys night out, this is probably quite a good place to start.
Olypub does have its own character but I believe its soul is far from being anything remotely close to New York or Paris. Trust me.
