Think twice before checking into this resort

I stayed in the resort prior to Christmas week of December 2009. The ambience of the hotel attracted me to check in. I simply went by the tariff quoted by the front desk. It was expensive for a place like Gokarna. I did not bother to check the tariff card of the hotel.

During the dinner time I found out that the hotel charges different rates for different people who check in at the same time.

The hotel is somewhat outside the town and the hotel restaurant makes full use of the same by overcharging the customers. There was no a la carte and it was buffet dinner which was served. The rates were the same even for children. This was not disclosed earlier and was told only on dinner table.

I suspect that the restaurant re-circulated some of the items from the previous night dinner menu. When I tasted the sambhar next morning, I could make out that it was prepared out of the previous night veg clear soup. When I accosted them they vehemently denied the same.

At the time of check out the hotel staff said they will send the cash receipt and the bill by post. Also, they asked me to pay in cash under the pretext that the swipe machine was not working. Please go with cash to this hotel because even to see an ATM you need to travel couple of kilometers.

At last, with great reluctance they gave me cash receipt for the amount I paid and bill for the stay. At that time I realised that the hotel tariff card is only in US Dollar and not in Indian Rupee.

Surprising isn’t it?
