A family entertainer, innovative twists, bubbling emotions, star-studded cast, and an average performance from the female cast: that was my reaction after the movie.
Debut director Anupam Kher does pretty much of a decent job in bringing together the potential casts of veteran actress Waheeda Rahman, Anil Kapoor, Abhishek Bacchan, Fardeen Khan, Mahima, Urmila and Tara Sharma.
The movie unfolds a happy family comprising three brothers with different ambitions. Om(Anil), being the elder plays the most mature of the three, hunts potential music talents as his job, Jai(Fardeen) wants to design the fastest car in the industry and Jagdish(Abhishek) being a computer hacker and a college student. Every thing seems to be going on fine till Jai marries his lady love(Urmila) and wants to settle in U.S. Jagdish is accused of hacking college question papers and Om finds himself in the deepest debts after a huge amount of loans for Jais education abroad. All adding up to the point when the brothers separate. Yet as the good old Bollywood tradition, they become the genious in their own professions and ultimately come together and as every film has it..they live happily ever after...
You may be left wondering though about the roles of Mahima and Tara, who just do not have much to do in the plot and justice is done with them in the song and the dance numbers giving support to the male cast(Mahima stars opposite Anil as his devoted wife, and Tara with Abhishek as his love).
A final word about this movie- its an old wine in a new bottle and a good time pass.
