OSO

Farha Khan’s Om Shanti Om... I remember when we were watching Main Hoon Na .. the first fifteen minutes into the film and a friend of mine had walked out of the theater because he did not subscribe to the entertainment kind of cinema.

Her second film OSO too falls in the same category.

Well good for her because Main Hoon na did good and bad for my friend for I know he is going to walk out of this one too.

OSO is a notch up than David Dhawan films. it is escapist and it is entertainment but intelligent at it.

The first half of the film which is based on the Hindi film industry in the 70’s is hilarious.

The gags and the moments and the characters are all like they say in bollywood, "one piece item".

Be it the junior artiste who wants to be a hero - SRk

The friend who believes his friend is the King of the World - Shreyas

The mother who as SRK rightfully says filmi mother - Kirron Kher

The petite, pretty, pious heroine - Deepika

and the bad guy - Arjun

The first half of the film is a string of moments and while it also takes a dig at lot of old time stars and the movies then... it is done in a harmless spirit (and hopefully everyone will take it in that sense too)

Not to forget the special effects song which is done pretty well

So then comes the next half which is the story of reincarnation.

The problem here is that the story is too predictable for the simple reason that we have seen it many a times in many a movies before.

Although it has a dard-e-disco and the special item song with more than half the industry grooving.. it still lacks the originality and the honesty of the first half.

So once you come out of the theatre it is a half and half feeling .. you feel half content and half  disappointed .. you feel half entertained and half bored ...
