Om Shanti Om...strictly not OK!!!

Om Shanti Om? Hit/Average/Flop? What is its? That’s been a question that is being asked by everyone. So in my opinion its just an average movie with all the hype and glamour but no substance at all. Its just purely time pass with no repeat value.

The movie deals with the subject of reincarnation. The movie is divided into 2 eras. The movie starts in the 70’s where Om played by SRK is a junior artist who has a deep fascination with leading star of the 70’s ShantiPriya. The movie ends 30 years later in 2007 when Om Prakash Makheja of the 70’s has been reincarnted in the famous star Om Kapoor or OK. Sounds pretty interesting and simple! Yet the movie is a drag with countless loopholes.

The first half of the movie has a few jokes and twists that keep you glued to the seats. It feels nice to be in the 70s for a change. The second half of the movie is purely dull and blows you off and you can’t wait to till the credits start rolling. **Infact the credits are the best part of the movie.

Moving to the actors. SRK is just about alright. He is awesome in the first part of the movie. He does a great job pretending to be a South Indian superstar and then just being an adorable  junior artist. But as OK in the second half he is just annoying. He looks old and nothing like a young superstar. He dresses young but still looks older than the character he is suppose to play.  So awesome+ annoying= just about alright!

Deepika Padukone is looks beautiful but can’t act. She doesn’t have much scope in the movie and could be counted as a supporting actress. Infact Yuvika Chaudhary who plays Dolly in the movie does an effective cameo and could have given Deepika a run for her money if she was given more screen time .

Sheryas Tapde is wasted. He is a fine actor but he has been given no role. He has doen a better job in his other movies than this one. This movie would probably rank as the lowest in hindi movie career.

Arjun Rampal is wicked! He is probably one the finest actors in the movie. He is an awesome villian. His personality, the anger and his looks gives you a right image of a villain. Infact he should consider being a villain.

The music initially sounded good. However its so overplayed that it doesn’t sound that good when you are watching the movie.

Overall I recommend that you save your money and wait till the movie is out the DVD or cable’cause the overly hyped movie is all glamour and no substance!
