When Paheli was nominated for the Oscars it made me wonder what sort of stories need to be made into a picture to convince the jury to get an Oscar entry ticket. Well it also reflected how difficult it is today for modern day directors to use a star like Sharukh and make a good film… But its very Easy says Farah with her Om shanthi Om and that’s exactly what she has done , even with a weak link with her script she still manages to mesmerize the audience with the sharukh magic..Om shanthi Om is more of an entertainer and less logical reasoning , reminds me of movies made for the tamil superstar..But it does click with the audience no matter what as long as the key being if presented well with a proper package..
Set in the 1970’s Om is sharukh a junior artist dreaming to make it big in the industry.. Shanthi priya played by ravishing Deepika padukone is a super lead heroine in the industry and sharukh is madly in love with her. Fire in the sets unites sharukh with his lady love only to find out later that she is secretly married to ambitious film producer Mukesh Mehra played by arjun rampal. Shanti priya is burnt alive on the sets of Om shanthi Om even before the film is shot by Mukesh as he feels she is a hurdle to all his ambitious plans. Om eventually is also killed trying to save Shanthi from the fire yet again ..
Fast forward , Om Kapoor is the son of the leading yester actor rajesh kapoor and is the current day superstar wining filmfare awards and producers lining up to rope him up for there next project. Its in one of such occasions when Om kapoor (OK) revisits the deserted studios of yesteryears and then the turn of events when he realizes he has been reborn as Om kapoor and decides to take mukesh to court for his heinous crime he committed 30 years back , But How? Well thats the plot which Farah has for you on Om shanthi Om!!!

The middle portions of the movie especially with OK felt diluted
Ok with all his biceps to portray modern day stars and accepting dumb roles
Fitting sandhya into the second half was always a problem with that script
Verdict
Om shanthi Om is focused on entertainment and is quite good at that. Its sharukhs magic all the way . However Farah is quite struck with her plot and its been like watching an one day cricket match when the intial foundation is lost inbetween only to have a well planed slog towards the end . Overall a movie well disguised to coverup all the flaws in the script . well who really cares of all the shortcomings when sharukh is mesmerizing his audience with all the magic even as debutant Deepika has her presence felt with her ravishing smile and looks .. However Movie watchers who want to see a neat film with proper logic and reasoning could find it difficult to digest the script..
