The album starts off with Ajab Si - a soft, romantic song, which will indeed get you in an amorous mood. Soulful singing by KK, with simple yet beautiful lyrics penned by Javed Akthar - easily one of the best tunes of the year! 4.5/5
Dard-e-Disco - Whether or not SRKs six pack abs be accepted, one things for sure - this song will top charts in the coming weeks. Conteporary Arabian music, mixed with catchy lyrics and energetic singing by Sukhwinder Singh. Got to admit, I didnt like this song when I first heard the one minute version.... but now it has grown on me. 3.5/5
Main Agar Kahoon - 70s music, wonderful singing, beautiful https://lyrics... really, what else do you need? VS have outdone themselves on the theme at the beginning of the song, such a beautiful peice! There is no doubt Sonu Nigam is one of the best singers we have and with this song, he adds another feather to his cap. Sherya is also great, completely matching Sonus singing prowess, proving once again that they are one of the best singing dou in the biz. 4.5/5
Deewangi Deewangi - It has to be the lavish song picturised on all the stars. A quawali/rock/pop number with a lot of dhol beats, makes this a typical Bollywood number with all the trappings of a chartbuster. Sung well by an array of singers - Shaan, Udit Narayan, Shreya Ghoshal, Sunidhi Chauhan & Rahul Saxena. Credit to VS for the fantastic opening peice again, lyrics arent anything to boast about, but go well with the theme of the song. 4/5
Jag Soona Soona Lage - After four back-to-back great songs, this one acts as some sort of a speed breaker. Technically, its not a bad song at all, yet it doesnt have the same hearing appeal as the others. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan & Richa Sharma do justice to this sad number, which is most probably a background, situational song. 2.5/5
Dhoom Taana - This song instantly reminds you of those Jitendra-Sridevi numbers, but at times changes pace into the 60s rock n roll era. Sung well by Shreya Ghoshal & Abhijeet. A strictly okay song that should gain more appeal once we get a glimpse of the picture. 2.5/5
Dastaan-e-om Shanti Om - Getting straight to the point, I absolutely love the music in this song! It has got its inspiration from Ek Hasina Thi (Karz). Brilliant music, great https://lyrics.. yet something is amiss - The singing just doesnt live up to the music. Although Shaan is a fantastic singer, he just falls short in this one. I feel this song might have been more suited for KK. Overall, a brilliant composition, singing could have been better. 3.5/5
Apart from the 7 original tunes, the soundtrack also comprises of 5 remixes.
Deewangi (Rainbow Mix) - I dont know why this song mix reminded me of a Mario/Zelda medly. Overall, I wouldnt pick this over the original. 2/5
Om Shanti Om (Medley Mix) - Overall an okay mix. 3/5
Dastan (The Dark Side Mix) - Nice remix, but yet again not a match to the original version. 3/5
Om Shanti Om (Theme Music) - The album ends on a high note with the theme of the film. Its a great peice, which exits in almost all the songs in the film. And which should also be part of the background music as well. Just wish it was longer than a minute. 4/5 *
After a couple of hits and misses, Vishal - Shekhar are back with a quality soundtrack, which will gain tremendous listener appeal in the coming days, as the anticipation for the films release becomes greater.
