I was impressed by one tourist guide who defined God as Generator, Operator and Destroyer moulded into one. The film is aided by a battery of legal advisors and a Gujarathi Play Kanji versus Kanji. If this film were to be released in a fundamentalist country there would have been widespread protests, but he producers seemed to have been guided by the censors to post disclaimer that the intention of the film makers is not to hurt any religious sentiments.
This movie is based on an atheist character Kanjilal ( Paresh raval ) who sells idols of God and Godess claiming an antique value and conning them to part more than what the product deserves. One fine day he invokes the curse of a Godmen, which coincides with an earthquake which leaves his establishment in rubbles. He is robbed by of livelihood by an act of GOD. He runs from pillar to post to get his compensation claim, but the insurance company rejects his claim, that acts of GOD is not covered under the Insurance policy. This premise which is obviously faulty is taken up as theme for this comedy caper. He decides to sue the Gods and their representatives on earth. But none of the advocates comes to his rescue physically, except Om Puri who is handicapped but accepts to guide him.
An impressive Godmen played by Dada ( Mithun Chakraborthy ) who almost apes the controversial godmen with his antics brings out peel of laughter among the audience. How the story weaves around with court room battles and funny incidents has to be seen on the big screen. How God takes a human form to guide an atheist and turns him to be believer to teach the commercial Godmen a lesson seems to be storyline in a nutshell.
The entire film is carried on the acting talent and shoulders of Paresh Raval, Akshay Kumar lends moral support with Lord Krishna character. A film can be made without a heroine too is proved in this movie beyond doubt. There is no item number, but there is Go Govinda song wherein Prabhudeva and Sonakshi Sinha dance to the mandal song.
