Nitty gritty of vengeance

I have never underestimated the directorial prowess of Vishal Bhardwaj ever but here I must corroborate the fact that it is an extremely exacting effort to put a creative masterpiece of the great dramatist William Shakespeare into a three hour gory grueling melodrama.I need not earmark the credentials of the world famous literary works of the massively intellectual and foresighted writer who was way ahead of his times.

I earnestly salute the dramatist for his depthful thinking but the endeavour to churn out his classic in the form of a Bollywood spicy treat has to be marked with enormous dedication and supreme will and unfailing motivation which was lying dormant in the overall stylization.Either I am overexpectant of the director’s capacity or I have my own pre-established standards of judging the portrayal is still ambiguous to me.

The storyline was weaved around potentially relevant characters of Omi, the role enacted by Ajay Devgan, Dolly Mishra, the romantic interest of Ajay Devgan in the movie and the role portrayed by the fascinating Kareena Kapoor, Kesu, the right hand of Omi with the role being performed by

Vivek Oberoi, Langda Tyagi, the role befitting the topnotch actor of current Bollywood movies, Saif Ali Khan.

Bipasha Basu, the Bong bombshell has restored her sexy siren image in the role of Billo, a stage dancer who has a romantic linkup with Kesu, the accomplice of Omi.Her acting credentials got buried miserably in a low profile character.

There is a feud over delegation of authority from Ajay Devgan to Vivek Oberoi but the feud is in the mind and the feud plagues the mind of Saif Ali Khan who was ambitious enough to assume responsibility of the coveted designation.

Now he weaves a plot to deride Vivek Oberoi and pull him down in the eyes of his leader who is Omi , the performer being Ajay Devgan.Ajay Devgan is deeply in love with the voluptuous and sensational actress Kareena Kapoor in this movie and Langda Tyagi has a devoted wife , our very own Page3 star Konkana Sen Sharma.Kareena in her Salwar Kameez attire and tight plait is almost looking like a dainty sensitive doll with lots of dreams in her eyes.

Langda Tyagi’s evil designs take the shape of deluding Ajay Devgan with a fabricated romance between Dolly and Keshu in which he eventually succeeds as well but he meets the well deserved end before the movie wraps up.

Ajay Devgan is seen killing his wife with his own two hands by putting a pillow on her mouth forcing her breath to leave her body.Kareena pleading for forgiveness and clinging in his arms. The scene was irksome and chaotic but subtle in its contribution to the theme of the movie.Even after the fateful end of Dolly’s life, Omi is unnerved and is numb with pain.

Heavy dose of filthy jargon, double meaning words, obscenity in the form of vulgar dance movements of a stage dancer, typical Western U.P.accent , treachery, deceit, flames of passion being the visible attributes of the movie .The histrionics of Omi and Dolly have been little less than perfect and the villainous and malicious foulplay of Langda Tyagi was the defining trait of the storyline.

Must have been a juicy treat for the front benchers but certainly aweful for the gentry who have the purpose of watching drama endowed with aesthetic appeal.Quite an antagonistic effect in itself but the presentation of drama is mediocre.May not exactly create ripples at the box office.
