Well, at the beginning.............let me really tell you,
It was great watching the movie. I was transported completely to the dusty realms of the village, and watched the story unfold, sittiing at the sidelines as a silent participant, feeling each and every emotion which exploded regulary in the story.
Without forgetting the Bard, one should give a standing appaulse to Vishal for weaving a magic of passion, love, hate ( I really do not know whay these two are always together, maybe one cant live without the other, or is it that both owe their very existence to the other) jealousy, revenge, grief, remorse, faith etc etc etc. and above all suspicion.
Suspicion or shak in hindi, as they say doesnt have any medicine. How right it is ?
The story might have been re-told many a times, by now, but still I would like to add a few words.
Jelaousy, Suspicion and subsequent desire to take revenge upon, drives each and every person on this earth to do things which are tottaly uncalled for, and Omakara, is all about that.
The evil finally gets what he wants, the innocent is buried, the good gets carried away by suspicion, and is filled with remorse on what he did, and finally ends himself, leaving the others in the middle, to once again try and occupy the vaccuum so created.
Fantastic performances by Ajay Devgan, Konkana Sen, Naserruddin Shah, Kareena Kapoor, Suresh Oberoi, the new comer who is the side kick of the Saif, Bipasha Basu ( well shes a natureal isnt it, the transition from tight mini skirted corporate kind to the buxom village entertainer )and yes, above all the Saif Ali Khan. Well here comes the fourth Khan, and mind you he is formidable enough to take on the other three.
Yes, finally we have some one who is more adaptable than a chameleon, and for whom acting just comes naturally. We have just seen the bud blooming and I feel that there is much left of his radiance, when the final flower blooms out of the bud.
The settings used, the language with the colloquial tongue all talks of brilliance. One has to intake and understand each and every dialogue and see the significance of the same in creating the bigger picture, and this can be done by only watching the same a second time.
So I will definitely be watching it the second time. But you know still something lingers.........
Well its that this is not some movie which you will enjoy watching, its not a movie to be seen when you are celebrating, there is no fun filled discussion, the moment you get out of the movie hall, its nothing but silence, each and every person, thinking, yes the Bard and then Vishal makes you think, look back, brood, and then again silence.........well I cannot put down any words to what I felt after the silence, as I personally walked into a nearby bar, ordered my favorite drink, heard the lilting soft music which was playing, and just made a decision, I would like to watch the same once again, and also the malayalam adaptation Kaliyatam, and would be reading Othello in the near future.
Thanks.
