Cliched it might sound, but let me reiterate - AJAY DEVGAN IS BRILLIANT.I wont go too much into revealing the story because I earnestly desire you to watch this movie for yourself and witness the Ajay Magic. There is too much of weight in the way he carries a character and mind boggling intensity he can display on the screen
Apart from this master class performance by Ajay, I have to applaud the director - Milan Luthria. A cliched story was presented in a matured way. Not too much of shooting, beating, shouting, but the violence is portrayed in the best possible intensity.
The story has compassion, passion, honesty, jealousy, hatred, deceit, love - every facet of the human character - and all of them woven into a flamboyant flow of events that run with rythim. The background music is superb and adds to the chill in the atmosphere. You sit tight in the theater and just travel back in time and simply become a witness to these series of events. Thats the achievement of the director and kudos to him.
All said and done, I must say, when I was reading some of the feedbacks, I felt bad that Emraan Hashmis name never came up in most of the places. Its tough to play opposite to heavy weight Ajay, but Emraan did that superbly and I cant think of anyone else in the current industry who could have done with such dexterity. What did he do different? The sheer passion, the raw hunger for success and lastly the sheer self-confidence - all the traits that the character - Shoaib demanded in the script, were displayed with absolute fidelity. The onscreen output was simply great.
It reminds me of Amitabhs Diwar. Amitabh used to take all the sympathy from the public in each of his movies. And the same happens here as well. Ajay makes a permanent home in the hearts of the viewers and Emraan(the character Shoaib) irritates the viewers and fills them with hatred, as the film ends finally. Even the following day morning, I was uttering in my own mind " Shoaib shouldnt have done that!!!." That says it all about their performances.
