WHAT!!!? One night at Somewhat a call center!

I wanted to end this books review by just a WHAT!!! , but you know we are expected to write more and keyboard down what we feel.

To first start off, 3 years of my life I was in a call center, took calls, got promoted, trained people, also took calls in a start up, so I have seen this industry with Nano details.

I am reading this book after I have moved from ITES to IT strange right?! yeah just because I like 3 mistakes of my life and hype of chetan I thought lets give this a try, also a movie of Sallu is being made on it, so it gives one more better reason to read.

The book is about a single night in call center - well this is where title is absolutely true :) The characters are as following:-

  1. Shyam - The narrator and a total loser also the main character of the novel

  2. Vroom - Varun Singh - The brat

  3. Radhika - a busy loser wife

  4. Anuj - A cheating husband ( I hate this part)

  5. Priyanka - Shyam’s ex-love , love

  6. Ganesh - Mr. Microsoft

  7. Esha - Budding model

  8. Bakshi - The  call center Heard

  9. Others - system guy, IT stuff etc other Team leads etc

Well the story is about a single night in the call center and a call from God. Yeah yeah I know this is the synopsis, ok.

what I like:-

  1. The frustration of young generation

  2. Corporate Politics

  3. Messed up love life

  4. The move on theory

  5. The Lexus theory

  6. The sarcasm

What I do not like:-*

  1. Too much away from reality

  2. Another book to blame call centers on spoiling youth (i aint spoilt no drugs, no smoke no drinks)

  3. Proving girls as move on types and stereotypes - Typical chauvinst charaterstics

  4. Story about losers

  5. a call center more than to be a one man show

  6. Too much of love story

  7. Misses the beat most of the time

well the story is about a call center in losses and people losing there job, More or less concentrating on a team. Well the novel is more than predictable. There is too much of shyam and priyanka love story, common its about call center  not about love story its not bollywood movie, almost 10 chapters end up in love story.

Well not everybody in call center have messed up lives well as per this novel it is messed. The call center has no quality agents and is ran by a whole and sole god called Mr. Bakshi, I was like WTF!!!!! where is rest of management in Boston, how is that possible.

I would not reveal the details as he deserves his 95/- bucks, rather buy it from a footpath guy for 30/- well that is the price t his books deserves.

The book has many misconceptions about guy tapping a phone, girls sleeping with guys for being model which is predictable,  priyanka breaking off with guy to follow her mother for arrange marriage to a rich guy, A cheating husband (predictable again).

Also the books shows people go out for hours on breaks to pubs and stuff during work hours, get real man !!! how many times is that possible to be away for hours!!!

And common the last part how can u send mails from your boss PC, whatever stupid he is, the PC in call centers autolock data security is critical common GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!

Chetan has done no research before writing this novel this is just fiction off his mind spoiling image of call center being full of losers and alocoholic losers!

I am from one I am not even close to this, I was really disappointed reading this!!! Please guys work in a call center to know more about it , I dont say all is not real but this is still far from reality, its just another way of fulfilling people’s perception and selling this novel. Go and Read five point someone rather.

Only buy it if  u have given into hype! or think call centers make people corrupt and sex oriented, then better take a look at airlines and hotel industries first. Call centers brought it out in open. Thank you!
