Fairytale for kiddos

After reading fiction by authors like Jeffrey Archer, Michael Crichton and others, I found Chetan Bhagat’s ’’One night...’’ very amateur. The last episode, where the vehicle rides in reverse over iron rods laid over a deep pit...is filmi...very filmi. It seems to have been lifted from some obscure hindi movie. Maybe thats why the junta is lapping it up like just baked cakes.

There are a few good things too...the description of the members of the team, their family backgrounds and their problems were well captured. I really loved the way the scheming boss is portrayed. His mannerisms are quite typical.

However, I have the general feeling that the book does not rate well in terms of story line and content. Somehow, after ’’5 point something’’, expectations from a Chetan Bhagat book were high

I hope Chetan does a better job with his next book. Lets wait and see...
