I Have This One Box

I signed up for onebox.com, and I am really happy that I did. It has a lot of neat features. They are easy to use and easy to understand. I belong to a lot of egroups and get a lot of email from them.

Some of the easy to use features that onebox has are the following:

Address Book. With the address book, you can put peoples real address, phone number, fax number, beeper number, Name and nickname.

You can have groups that you can add people to. For example, I have a group for people that read my reviews. I just go to the group in the address book and click on it and it will email everyone that I have in that group. You can set up all sorts of groups like this. Friends and family.

They give you the option of filtering out email. For example, if there is someone that is emailing you and you do not want to read their email, click on their email hit block on the options and that person is blocked from your incoming email. This is great when someone is spamming you.. Or if you get on one of those lists where you are constantly getting email.

When you email someone it gives you the option of marking the email urgent. The messages seem to load fairly fast too. I have had very few problems with this service. They have the usual problems of site maintenance and the site being down when they are doing this. This is very rare and not usually during business hours.

When you sign up for onebox.com you have to pick a member name and a password like you do on most every site that you go to. You register and you are given a fax number and a message phone number. Not all areas have local phone numbers available. If this is the case then you are suppose to pick the closest one to your area. There were none for Portland, Oregon, so I picked one from Washington. I do not use the number as people would have to call me long distance.

When you email someone you have the option of the regular email or you can leave a voice email, if you choose a voice email, then a applet pops up , you record your message, preview your message and then send it if you are happy with it.

When I signed up for onebox.com they had a special going where they would send you 100 business cards with whatever you wanted put on them. They also put your onebox email address, your fax number that onebox.com assigns and your message phone number.

Another feature that it has is vacation, if you go on vacation or are going to be away from your computer and you do not want to start bouncing email, you can set it for vacation. When someone emails you when the vacation option is on, they are automatically sent a message that you have picked. For example you could have it say, sorry away till Nov. 25th, 2000 or anything else that you wanted it to say. If you are worried about people knowing that you are out of town you could put the computer down for maintenance or something to that effect.

You can create folders in onebox, so if you want to keep certain emails for later use you can have the mail sent to that folder. Keep, Save, Family. Anything like that. They also have a calendar that you can use.

I have been very happy with this email account. The site is not cluttered like some of the other free email accounts. You do not have to wade through a bunch of mumbo jumbo to check your email. The best thing about it, it is free with a lot of really nice easy-to-use features. It is web mail and you can check it from any computer.
