It’s been couple of weeks now. I got the invite from participating #InviteCarnival. I was using a oneplus one before this phone. I would say I don’t feel like a huge jump. Oneplus has improved in many aspects like build quality, look and feel, removable back panel, bigger battery. The finger print scaner is great. It works fine 8/10 times. I really love this addition.
As I said earlier, was using oneplus one for last 10 months, so my review would be like a comparison between one & 2.
Appearance:
Oneplus2 is better in appearance wise. More metal makes it feel more premium. It is more comfortable to use. Feels good on my hand. Removable back is good. Now you don’t need an additional tool to remove the back like that on oneplus one. Finger print scaner is the highlight feature of oneplus 2. It’s really fantastic. It is pretty fast and accurate. It accurately sense your fingers if you touch it properly. On the back side, they changed the camera position, personally I feel this as more awkward. Speaker grills looks modern but it doesn’t have a dual speaker. On the side, notification toggle is useful for many users.
Performance:
I never felt like oneplus 2 is faster than predecessor. I run some benchmark tests on both, oneplus one completed all test quicker than 2, but the final score was higher on 2. Oneplus doesn’t have any lag. It is super smooth.
Even though Oneplus2 has a bigger battery it doesn’t reflect on end user experience. Battery life is above avg. Battery life was a real worry for first few days. After cleaning cache from boot menu, I got some better result. Now I’m getting around 5 hours screen on time on normal usage. Heating is not deal breaker in my opinion
My oneplus one used heats up more quickly. I’m not saying that oneplus 2 won’t heat up. It will heat up when you play games, youtubing for more time.
OS:
Oxygen OS is improving. Still it’s far from perfect. It does have some glitches. Main thing is, it consumes lot of battery. Most of the time it overtakes screen on battery consumption. Which is abnormal. There is some app compatibility issues also. It doesn’t support some common apps like Facebook, but Facebook lite works fine. Oxygen OS does not have perfomance modes. Still it offers a stock Android experience, fast fluidic, options for customization( like, dark mode, tap to wake/sleep, on screen off screen buttons, etc.) I Trust on oneplus guys. They are good on rolling updates. They will solve all these OS bugs soon by an OTA. I’m 100% sure about it.
Camera:
With laser auto focus and OIS, the camera becomes better. It can take great shots. Latest updates offers raw photography which is really use full. One thing I noticed is, when I choose maximum resolution, ie, 12.4 MP 4: 3, it doesn’t offer a full screen view. On my oneplus one I used to get a full screen view on the same resolution. Oneplus 2 camera offers only 3 resolution modes. Oneplus one on CM12.1 has almost 10 modes.
Conclusion:
Oneplus2 is great phone. You get more on money what you pay. It is the best phone under 30k. It has some minor bugs but you can trust on oneplus. They will roll out updates soon to fix these.
