Yes Onida, you are my number one TV. I do not have your new avatar with me, because in 1993, I had gone for the Onida Colour TV then available, and I am completely satisfied with it. Frankly speaking, when in 1993, I came to Dhenkanal from New Delhi, your Dhenkanal Dealer, who is a friend of mine, installed you in my drawing room and gave me the freedom to pay Rs.18, 000.00, your cost, in four equal instalments. A fantastic deal. Because, it was interest free.
Therefore, I am sorry that I can not have you, loaded with many new features, and glamorous Unique Selling Propositions (USPs).But, all the same, I congratulate your Product Manager, and wish your Marketing Manager best of luck.
My Onidascolour rendering and reproductions are just superb in all the channels during night transmissions, although during the day, it is not so. But for this, I cant blame you, because the Ultra High Frequency and Very High Frequency transmissions are treated differently by the different atmospheric layers. Do I sound too technical ? Any way, your Engineer will easily understand my language. In subjects like this, my academic training in Radiophysics and Electronics at a premier University in India comes handy to separate me from others.
Your performance depends to a considerable extent on the whims and fancies of the Cable Operator. Here at Angul, sometime we get BBC and CNN and at other times we dont. When you ask them the reason over phone, they evade the issue. If you ask the person in person, he laughs and again gives a lame excuse. And you know the Cable Operators are charging us Rs.120.00 per month.
I am also very happy that you give equal treatment to all channels - DD1, DD Metro, ETV, Star World, STAR Plus, Zee Cinema, Zee TV, Sahara TV, and the local Angul TV.
Wait, My Dear, the Convergence Technology is round the corner, in which the Computer, the TV and Telecommunication will merge into one. I know, with this incoming technology in view, you have been designed, and I wish you best of luck.
