I was planning to buy a DVD player since a long. My first choice was Philips 320 because of its mobility. But then I come to know from Mouthshut that it has problem with almost every thing. It’s open from top, so its lens is vulnerable to dust. It is not a new generation DVD player. Its material is of poor quality. All this was enough to change my mind. Then I went for Onida–7100.
First I will start with the problems of Onida-7100,
I fill it from the first day. The Disc tray seems very delicate. Even, every time putting disc into it, I think that the tray is going to break if I push it little more.
If you are planning to buy 5.1 speakers, add cost of amplifier with it, as the player is not coming with inbuilt amplifier.
One more problem is with the screen saver. It gets activate if STOP mode is continue for 15 second. Good! But if you need to ON your TV, while playing audio CD, screen saver is not going to help you, as the player will not be in the STOP mode by that time.
Now The Positives,
Good picture and sound quality.
Once I tried to run a scratch CD on my friend’s DVD player and it was not even opening. But on the Onida DVD player, the Scratch CD ran smoothly.
After reading its user manual, I come to know that each DVD player has been set for a reference code based on the country. The DVD should match with the reference code to be run by the player. As Onida is made in India, you can be sure that it will run all the Hindi movie DVDs.
The Remote is very elaborate and easy to understand. All most all function are given on it. You will definitely learn some new features after going through the remote.
The player is Slim and light weight and fairly portable. It can fit into a medium size bag.
