I helped my aunt in selecting a 29 TV this Onam (aug-2004) when I was in Kerala. And the experience was thrilling. She had an Onida 20 (15 years old) and wanted to exchange. She was reluctant to exchange as the old Onida was doing full justice till date. But you have to change with the times. We checked SONY, PHILIPHS, SAMSUNG, ONIDA BLACK. We were shown the latest ONIDA 29 OXYGEN that comes with a designer stand. And let me tell you it’s unbelievable. She fell for it (mostly the stand) and I for the TV.
A really great product with an impressive picture technology and unbelievable sound out put. I wonder why they did not put the KY feature on the 29, though they give a detailed description of KY technology in the manual with a small reference saying ’not in 29 model’.
However, the TV has lot of gizmos- state of the art feature and a never before LCD remote control. This one is a bit complicated, but you will get used to it in sometime. Though the picture quality is excellent, thanks to DVMC technology, there is room for improving it better and sharper. Sound also on the 29 model is great. The output is better compared to other TVS. The Onida 21 oxygen has the KY feature in it.
If you are looking for bigger TV at a lower budget, trust Onida. There’s nothing close to it.
If you are staying in far flung towns and rural areas, you need to fix the stand all by yourself as their people don’t come to far off places (from the town of purchase) to set up the TV and Stand. This was a bit embarrassing. But a detailed manual on how to fix the stand helps you.
