Good product but poor service

Hi,

I bought this 29’ Onida KY Thunder a year back. Thought I am pretty satisfied with the overall performance of the product, I must still bring a certain things to your light.

First of all the sound, though it is good, I still feel that too much of BASS for certain sound categories that the user can choose for is a problem. The picture quality is good but not as sharp as the flat TVs.

Coming to the service. Recently I faced this problem when the picture was getting cut from one side of the screen. I called up the service center and they said that they would send a engineer who would charge Rs. 250/- as service fees and some addition amount for whatever part is required to be replaced.

Next day I had a engineer at my door at 9 in the night ( I am not sure if that is the best time to attaned to a complaint). This guy just picked up the remote and rectified the problem by using some key combinations. He was anyways not ready to share the combination with me as it is proprietary to the company. So ultimately no part was required to be replaced. But this guy asked for Rs. 330/- instead of Rs. 250/- as mentioned by the service center people.

On raising a concern about such a big amount for such a small job, he said that I should go for a annual maintenance contract which would cost Rs. 1350/- per year. This actually did not make any sense to me. I told him that I would rather get my TV insured instead of going for such a expensive AMC.

He left the decision to me but to my shock while he was leaving he advice me to go for a AMC or get the TV insured as according to him this product is known to give problems on a consistent basis. This was shocking to hear.

The dealer ’’Plug-in’’ at chakal is another addition to the problem. They had givem me a number for their contact center which never works and their normal land line calls are not attended to. So make sure that you ask for good service.

Its a pity that a good product looses its values because of such stupid dealers and after sale service staff.
