This review is on Onida S12TFL3 1 ton capacity split AC. There is no seperate review column for s12tfl3 on mouthshut I am writing it down here in s12GR. So you should excuse me if I wasted your time..
Price&selection process: We are newly married couple and middle class gainers, so split AC is still a luxury for me. But the Sun here in Guntur, a small city in Andhra Pradesh never excuses us and beats down horribly in the mid summer. So AC turned into "need" instead of "luxury". I don’t know any of the basics of ACs but started searching Mouthshut and other Internet sources. Voltas, Bluestar are good brands but are ending at high price range but the service is poor. LG is the only company with good service but their products and price are also placed high. One of my friend bought a latest bluestar 1 ton which costed him 23, 000 with complete installation after long negotiations.
Then one of my uncle suggested me to have a look at Onida. We went to PCH and NEXT showrooms. NEXT quoted 22, 450 after long negotiations. Then PCH people quoted 20, 150 after negotiations. So I immediately ignored NEXT and PCH people also offered me two scratch cards. I won gifts worth 1000/- making it even liter on my pocket. I am saying all this thing because, when buying a product, please inquire the price at more than one dealer. You can see from my case how extra the NEXT people quoted the price. The difference I got is 3000/- for the same model.
Installation : Service guys are pin point accurate in time maintenance and they don’t asked us a single penny. The installation went for an hour or so, and they did exactly what we said. Their work is so nice and fast, so I must be happy if the service also this much good. Most importantly they patiently given a demo and tips for using the product economically and efficiently.
Performance: The room is chilled in 30 minutes of time. We restricted ourselves to a temperature of 25 deg as the compressor is new. The outside temp is just 35 as the summer is not yet entered but still I must say it is performing better than LG ACs that I use in my office. Our room is 12X12 making it tough for an 1 ton AC, yet its performance is up to the mark.
Durability and Quality, Service: This is where I cannot comment as the product is brand new.
Features: Even though it is placed in least price in the market, this product has a ’Highly’ compressor, which is manufactured in China with Japanese technology. Hitachi is one famous company which is collaborated with ’Highly’. So I must say the compressor comes from a good family too and of a decent breed. This is the best buy I must admit. Also the feature list is also comparable with some of the Korean brands like LG and Samsung. Anti bacterial filter, Icool, Turbo fan, sleeep mode, automatic power, automatic temp adjustment in the night, max outside temperature 54 deg C are some of the features of Onida S12TFL3.
On the whole, with 3 thousand bucks less priced than BlueStar and 2 thousand less than LG and 3500 less than Samsung, I am sure Onida S12TFL3 1 ton is a best buy for a middle class family.
