I was planning to go for 1.6 Sports from Palio. Somehow I was convinced with 1.4 sail. Well It is a good hatch back for a family. If your family members taller than 6 feet then you will be bitching this one each time you try to get in and get out. Well, I don’t have prblems neither my family. I have driven this car for almost 10k. It has been just great and the service backup is also good. I was on a ride for almost 2000 kms and I was in Coimbatore that time and there is an indicator in the car which will be on if there is some problem (electrical) in the car. It was on a sunday and I was sure that I would be stuck there. I just managed to call the Service station in Coimbatore and to my surprise two service engineers who are kept to take care of emergency break down services came to my hotel to check out the problem and it was done in in fifteen minutes . I was charged 100/- . I think that was best experience with the service. Well about the car I have very less to add as people have already given a description on this car. If you spot a ford (other than Mondeo) on a highway you can reach them in a jiffy and race away for a merry. There are couple of things you need to get used to it .
1) you might feel that the accel/clutch/brake area is slightly cramped. Yes it is slightly cramped . If you wear a big shoes you may not feel comfortable.
2) Steering - You might feel it is rusty. But I swear you will love on a high speed.
3) 8 valves .;( even WagonR comes with 16 valves.
This car has a better stabililty than palios at high speeds like 150kmph ( due respects to Palio). This car is slightly low so you need to be careful on speed brakers. Luckily these guys have a engine gaurd. That is a good one and much needed for the Indian roads. Mileage is good enough. In highway and for a long drives I get 17 with A/C. city I get a cool 12kmpl with A/C.
Looks like Aveo has replaced the models of sail 1.4 and sail 1.6 . but inside the Aveo there is only corsa engine which is slightly tuned. There is no need to worry about the spares. I am quite happy with the choice and the kind of return I am getting from Sail 1.4/ If you guys planning for a seconh hand one .. Go for it ! I say :)
