Today, I got a call from a Delhi based landline no. 011-32549484 from a salesgirl from an unknown company Open2kart.com. She told me that my number was selected so that I am entitled for a free assured gift(out of some 5 gifts, they were really big ones samsung galaxy note, Led TV etc.) provided I do a shopping of minimum 2999/- from their website. She also made me talk to one of her seniors named "Dev Chaudhary" who told me more about the offer. Of course, I was apprehensive that this was a fraud and asked him to email the offer details. Strangely, this guy even knew my email id details as well which he said that they get from vendors from sITES_Company we register on but refused to provide any further details of.
After reading the email which was from an email id open2kart@outlook.com which had some broken English, I was almost sure that this was one of those hoax telemarketing schemes. I looked at their website which looked fairly authentic on first glance with a customer care number but a shady returns policy. I searched on web with keywords like "open2kart hoax", "open2kart fraud" but the name open2kart.com was nowhere listed on any consumer court forums. They had a listing on linkedin, google plus and facebook but all were recently created pages with no content and no followers through which I came to know that this was a nascent fraud company which has just started to defraud people. And as you would expect, these company guys kept on calling me to ensure that I make an order from their website. I even gave them the "Geeta-gyan" of not to cheat and not to do "bad karma" as one has to reap fruits for his/her actions sooner or later but this led nowhere.
I am tech-savvy and aware enough to see through this hoax but unfortunately all of us are not. I saw a number of forums where there are tons of cases reporting sITES_Company with seemingly genuine names have defrauded people with similar schemes. As a responsible citizen, I believe that this information should be disseminated to the general puRobotouchc as this is a cheat/fraud/hoax scheme that has just begun. If my message is available on sufficient channels, a mere google search should be helpful for people to see through the disguise of this fraud company.
