Note: I have used this device for almost one and a half weeks. The device I have is the 4 GB/64 GB variant.
What I liked:
i. DISPLAY: The display panel used on this device is of an excellent quality for the price. The viewing angles are very good. It sports an IPS grade LCD panel.
ii. PROCESSOR: The Oppo Realme 1 sports the new MediaTek Helio P60 processor and I have to say Oppo has done a great job. The MediaTek Helio P60 is a very powerful chipset. It is also much more powerful than the Snapdragon 636 and it is near to the Snapdragon 660 SOC. I hadnt noticed any lag or performance issue till now. The general performance on this device is one of the best in the segment.
iii. RAM: As I have mentioned that I have the 4 GB/64 GB variant, so RAM management on my device has been perfectly fine. And I would suggest if you are going to buy this phone, then go for at least the 4GB RAM variant as this phone runs on the custom ColorOS the RAM management on the 3GB RAM variant might not be good.
iv. CELLULAR CALL QUALITY: I did not notice any issues regarding the cellular call quality on this device. Even in areas with low signal reception, it worked fine. So, signal reception is also good on this one. And the quality of the earpiece is also perfectly fine.
v. SPEAKER: The speaker is also pretty loud and clear. I did take some calls using the loudspeaker and it was perfectly audible. So, no complaints regarding the speaker quality.
vi. 4G CONNECTIVITY: Due to the new MediaTek Helio P60 chipset, this phone supports true dual 4G VoLTE simultaneously. You can even use 2 Jio SIM cards at the same time.
vii. HEADPHONE JACK: The audio output via the 3.5mm headphone jack is also excellent on this device. The sound signature is one of the best in the segment. It is even much better than that of the OnePlus 6 as of now.(I am currently using the OnePlus 6 as my daily driver.)
viii. CAMERAS: It has the best front facing camera in this price bracket period. The rear camera also produces some good pictures. Despite having single cameras on both the front and the rear, it is able to produce pictures with the bokeh effect using software. The pictures from both the cameras came out to be very good in good natural lighting but in low lighting they were not that impressive, which is same for other smartphones in this segment.
ix. BATTERY: The device lasted a full typical working day for me. For casual users it can last from more than a day to a day and a half.
What I didnt like:
i. UI: I am not a big fan of the ColorOS that Oppo uses on its devices. Honestly, I love Vanilla Stock Android. In this regard, in the segment, the Asus Zenfone Pro M1 would be my pick.
ii. BUILD QUALITY: The design of the smartphone is very stunning. It has a unique pattern at the back. But, the body is made up of fibre plastic. Its not metallic. So, the build quality is average.
iii. FINGERPRINT SCANNER: This device does not have any physical fingerprint scanner on it. It uses the face unlock to unlock the device but again, fingerprint unlock is much more secure and reliable than face unlock. Also, in dark situations you have to enter your PIN, password or pattern as it uses only the camera for face unlocking.
CONCLUSION: If you are comfortable with the face unlock and the ColorOS, then around a price of Rs 11, 000, it is the best device you can get as of now.
