Read this for a Healthy Smile !

A great smile begins with healthy teeth and gums. A lifetime of good oral health can be your’s with proper brushing, daily flossing and regular visits to your dentist. Here’s what you need to know.

Brush off the plaque!:

It takes 16-24 hours for teeth to accumulate enough plaque to do any harm. So, thorough brushing  and flossing  provides sufficient protection! Flossing should be done atleast once daily.

Good dental hygiene  starts with proper brushing atleast twice daily with a good toothpaste and a soft toothbrush. Select a toothpaste which has potassium in it’s ingredients which is good for the teeth. My dentist always insists on that. Most dentists recommend brushing with a baking soda toothpaste for clean and healthy teeth.

Oral-B toothpase is good for sensitive teeth and cavity protection. It has a refreshing minty flavor.Active ingredients are  Potassium Nitrate 5.0% Sodium Fluoride 0.225%. Colgate toothpaste is also good for long lasting and anti-bacterial protections.

Next, the toothbrush you choose should be of soft type. Hard ones are too hard on the gums, sometimes they lead to tearing of gums. Also, remember to change your toothbrush every two or three months.  Brushing, along with regular flossing helps keep plaque from forming on your teeth.Plaque is a nasty bacteria. If left unchecked, it can harden into tartar, causing infection that can destroy gums.

Be careful with Gum disease!:

Gum disease  is  the most common dental problem in adults. It starts with a condition known as Gingivitis, which affects 90% of adults over age 35 at some point in their lives. Gingivitis begins with the inflammation of the gums, which may bleed when you brush. If this gum disease continues, the bones of your teeth may weeken. This can cause the teeth to loosen or even fall out! So, be careful not to get this disease!

Visit your dentist!:

To prevent tooth decay and gum disease, it is important to visit your dentist regularly. Atleast once in six months, you have to visit your dentist for a thorough check-up.

If you do all the above, you are sure to have a healthy smile!
