Surgery in Lockdown with no protection

I took my wife to the orchid hospital after being referred by my treating doctor as she needed cesarean surgery. I have told it a good hospital with good staff. The admission process was smooth and I was admitted somewhere near the operation theatre. later a nurse examined me.

The doctor came in the noon and she looked hassled with no protective gear except for a mask. someone took my temperature with a mercury thermometer, I don’t know how many armpits it had gone earlier. I objected too but I was told that its new. I wanted water which came in a cheap plastic bottle. The bed on which I sat also wobbled and the nurse came running and helped me sat.

Then she put the onus of my falling on me scolding me that I did not sit properly. I was really disgusted. That lady doctor also did not look like a qualified doctor by her talks and behavior. later I was taken inside Operation Theater where the atmosphere looked really good at first. It was a clean place and I was impressed. But soon all impressions evaporated.

First of all, nobody was in PPE which we hear a lot in news nowadays, the staff was talking to each other loudly. they all were talking about some salary cuts, sanitizers, soap, etc. I was made to sit on the table. Then a doctor came and introduced himself properly and I was really impressed but I forgot his name as I was in pain. He told me that he is the anesthetist and he explained to me the whole procedure in detail. He even asked my travel history, allergies, etc while doing other things, He also looked sad and was telling others about salary cuts. The staff was in a really bad mood after all who wants to work with less pay.

All were saying work is less but during my stay, 2 more patients were still on the beds. It didn’t look like less work. Anyway, The anesthetist pricked my back with a small needle and that was the only pain I felt. Later the surgeon came and that was not the one who met me earlier, it was Dr. Kanika as the staff was saying, She was Dr. Ganguly’s daughter and a qualified gynecologist. Still, I was hoping to get operated by Dr. Ganguly and not somebody else. Anyway, everything went firn and later I was shifted to the same room. What agonies I was the condition of staff, no PPE, no sanitizer.

At one time I also heard someone shouting that provide soap at least to wash hands, I hope the administrator does something about it otherwise I am thinking of complaining to higher authorities myself. One thing that bothered me later was that I was billed a few PPE kits. I know as these are being advertised all the time on the news, But bot a single one was used. Maybe they just billed it.
