I have been a satisfied customer of Orientals Family Floater Mediclaim Policy since the past 12-13 years. Have used their claim services twice in all these years. The first claim was about 4 years back at Jaipur Golden Hospital, amounting to about 2.6Lakhs, on which the TPA rejected to offer cashless claim, and also harassed a bit to produce atleast previous 3 years policies to even entertain the claim. One simple question to the Insurance Company, "Couldnt the insurance company/TPA take this much pain to keep its records handy & updated?" But anyways, we paid the hospital bills upfront, and got the reimbursement later after 10% deduction due to the Co-pay clause. The second claim was in 2012 at Max Hospital Saket, and this time after a little delay, the cashless facility was provided, and the claim was passed smoothly.
But one thing is for sure for everybody to note, buy a mediclaim policy only through a well-reputed agent or directly with a company agent only if he appears to be knowledgeable enough to know & guide clearly. "Medimanage.com" seems to be one such agency, though I have not used them personally, have heard quite a good things about them.
Furthermore, I would suggest The Oriental Insurance Company to give itself a complete makeover, replace all their arrogant, lazy & ill-mannered staff with new & efiicient people. HvAlso suggest to make their plans more flexible. i.e. I hold a Family Floater Policy Gold Plan with 7 Lacs Cover, but it still pays a very lowly 1% room-rent, this clause should be made flexible like some of the private players do.
