Oriflame 'Lash Advanced Waterproof' mascara review

Yes my wide-eyed friends, I made the transition from Lacome to L’oreal to M.A.C. & finally towards Oriflame in terms of my mascara.’’Why the constant change?’’ one may ask.Well, if you didn’t already know:mascaras have an extremely poor shelf life & expire within 6 months. Some do so within 5!Hence be aware when your go-to product begins smelling stale.

I’m an Oriflame representative & that’s how I learnt of this product, since it was available on a special Eid offer at a considerably lesser price. Also, my M.A.C. mascara had been done with & I was on the hunt for a new one.

Personal disclaimer:I may be a rep, but thoughts & opinions on this product are my own.

The mascara is packaged in a deep navy 8 ml(0.28 fl.oz.) tube.Black(3654) is the only available colour in this range. The wand in it self is nothing unique-just your average sized stick with a very normal mascara brush which spirals & tapers towards the end.On application, the texture is less waxy & gives a more glazed coating on the lashes, which took me by surprise when I had just started using the product. It’s commom knowledge that waterproof mascaras tend to be more tacky since they are required to literally stick to your eyelashes. However the adherence of this to water(during my teary eyed days to beach & swimming sessions)is pretty good. Please keep in mind that I use mascaras only on my top lashes, pertaining to how I have no idea as to how this would behave if used on the lower lashes. This ’gizmo’ here cost me R.O.3.00 i.e. Rs.300.Originally this was priced at R.O.4.500 i.e. Rs. 450.The scent is your typical ’mascara type’ smell. All in all, a pretty average deal when keeping in mind the result & my wallet.

Notice how I’ve been constantly using the adjectives:’average’, ’normal’, ’good’, etc. That’s exactly what Oriflame’s ’Lash Advanced Waterproof’ mascara is.It is in no means great or amazing. There are soooo many similar products out there with better wands which give a much more ’fluttery’/’dreamy’/’romantic’/’seductive’ look to the eyes. This was the successor to Lancome’s ’Definicils’(A plus), L’oreal’s ’Voluminious’(excellent) & M.A.C.’s ’Zoom Lash’(gave me the doe-eyed effect).Currently I’m using Rimmel’s ’Volume Flash’(wow!).Almost instantaneously, it’s easy to imagine as to how this ranks when higher-end & even drugstore mascara pioneers are brought into consideration. This is a mere simpleton & doesn’t have the ’oomph’ of Maybelline’s ’Colossal’ or the elegance of Lancome’s ’Definicils’(in case you were wondering, ’Definicils’ was my very first mascara & hence, dear to me).If your a beginner & wondering which mascara to turn to, then Oriflame’s ’Lash Advanced’ will turn out to be your best friend since it has no complications or hassles.Otherwise, this isn’t something I would rave about to my girlfriends.

Final grade-C+, good not great.
