Obituary to Sidney Sheldon

Yet another blow this morning after having read on CNN about sudden demise of my favorite novelist – Sidney Sheldon. Ironically, I was just reading his “Stranger in the mirror” last night for the nth time. In 1937 he moved to Hollywood, California where he reviewed scripts and collaborated on a number of B-movies.

After serving in the military during World War II as a pilot in the War Training Service, a branch of the Army Air Corps, Sheldon returned to civilian life and moved to New York where began writing musicals for the Broadway stage while continuing to write screenplays for both MGM Studios and Paramount Pictures. He earned a reputation as a prolific writer, for example at one time he had three musicals on Broadway: a rewritten

"The Merry Widow, " "Jackpot" and "Dream with Music." His success on Broadway brought him back to Hollywood where his first assignment was The Bachelor and the Bobbysoxer which earned him the Academy Award for best original screenplay of 1947. In his latest book “The other side of me” – a biography, details his struggle from nobody to a “Superstar” and a master story teller. For an ardent fan, each book is special, filled with Suspense, Drama and Passion to live. Most of his characters in the book are born to a nameless family, grow up with big dreams and achieve “impossible” things. May his soul rest in peace. Good Bye Mr. Sidney Sheldon. My deepest condolences to his family.
