Robin Cook wrote Outbreak in August of 2004. I bought the eBook that Penguin published for $10.00 CAD. The ISBN #0786503793.
My Review
The book begins in the January 9, 1988 and ends in 1999. Most of it happens Atlanta, Georgia in the United States.
The sky was an immense, inverted bowl of gray clouds that arched from one flat horizon to the other. It was the kind of sky with a lot of clouds that often covered the American Midwest in January. In the winter it the ground was covered frozen stubble that had patches of dirty snow and a leafless trees. An ominous day!
There had been a number of Ebola virus breaks in Africa. They dont seem random like most virus but more planned.
Some of the virus is sent to the Center for Disease Control and they give it to Marisa Blumenthal to test. Marisa is called in to help reconstruct the face.
Youll never believe what the health care companies in the United States have done.
After a few days she discovers a horrible secret.
Youll never guess how the Ebola and the man with no face and fingerprints are contected to each other, but they are.
To find out how youll have to read the book.
My Thoughts
Robin Cook always develops his characters very well and the plot was quite good.
He used a lot of southern slang and Im not sure if people who dont understand this type of English very well will enjoy the book.
If you enjoy medical thrillers, Outbreak is one that you dont want to miss! Hard to put it down.
My Conclusion
I did enjoy this book but not as much as his other books like Coma and Mortal Fear. Its up to you if you want to read it. Thats why Im rating it 4 stars.
Thanks for reading my review.
