Baby, Can I Look At Your Magazine? NO!!! HE Says!

Women like magazines! Well so do men! And they like magazines that are designed for them. That’s a safe assumption I think. Recently I got my husband subscriptions for his birthday to a couple of different Sport magazines, I got them for free through my AOL Reward points. (I have written on the other one) and today I am going to write on the second one. It finally started coming in and I have to say I like this magazine as well. I guess because I love to fish. I don’t care about the hunting parts, but my husband does and that is why I got him this gift in the first place.

Outdoor Life Magazine

This is a wonderful magazine for men! You can find very helpful information about hunting: like Shotgun and shells, Bow and arrows, bullets, recalls, dogs, gear and so much more.

On the fishing side you can find info like: Walleye fishing, Catfish fishing, lures, boating, fishing gear, White Bass and regional reports.

We have really enjoyed the Editor’s Journal. This month’s issue we learned that Outdoor Life had been using a testing method for fishing gear and that the readers had really enjoyed this. These testing methods are for rating products, products that the consumer will buy to hunt or fish with. They have spent a lot of time testing products to ensure the consumer that the gun or the binoculars, or the fishing pole, etc is what the company says it is going to be. This is very good so that the money you are going to spend will be spending worthwhile.

In the “snap shot’s” section we learned that cougars were on the move again in many states, and the danger of this creature. Now I personally never thought about seeing a cougar except on TV or at the zoo, but apparently this is a big problem in some areas.

There was also a story about Elk being eaten by wolves, this was a startling report. Did you know that wolves have killed over 330 Elk! This is in the state of Wyoming. There are many other stories in this section that are very informative.

The magazine also informs the reader of early “Hunting Seasons” in various states. Now for those of you who like to goose hunt, the U.S. Fishing and Wildlife Service is considering an earlier date. As early as August 1st! for your gunning pleasure!

And of course there is an “Ask the Expert” section where readers can find out about items of hunting or fishing that they have or have heard about. The Outdoor Life staff will try their best to answer these questions and of course post the ones they were able to do.

The magazine is about 155 pages or so, full of adds, full of articles, full of helpful information for the hunter and fisherman/woman. They even rate the newest trucks on the market and RV’s! In fact, they dedicate a lot to RV buying information. What’s hot and what’s not!

They talk about the shoes that you wear while out in the great outdoors. We found that you can really take care, or better care of your boots if you pre treat them with a pre treatment of water repellent or waterproofing agent. But it was really important to wear the boots out for a bit first, say on a hike, and then put the protector on them. Hadn’t really thought of this, I guess we should have because we do our everyday leather shoes this way, so why not the hunting gear. Common sense I guess it should be for us.

Other Neat Stuff

Did you know that there is a gadget out there called a “Pop Up Decoy”? This decoy is easily carried with your hunting gear and easy to use. You can choose from: Elk, antelope and whitetail deer. They are made to look really from a distance and range around $90.00 each kit. Now, I personally would not use these, nor would my husband, but for those of you who really get into serious hunting, well there you go!

There is always a “Do It Yourself” section that really has some great ideas! This month was a port-a-cabin! You will always find a list of everything you need with this information each month to build your “do it yourself” item.

The features will vary each month from catching the big fish to big buck revolution to drifting for catfish. A very well informed magazine, that’s for sure. You can spend hours looking through it, reading the articles, and then going back through it again and again. There is just so much information in this magazine, that there is not enough space to write about all of.

Company Info

The website: https://outdoorlife.com will inform you of other letters from the readers and the responses. You can also find out more about the company on the website.

In the front covers of the magazine you will find all the information on the editors, the writers, the consumer report people, the different locations of business and so much more. It actually is interesting to see just how many people are used to put this magazine together each month.

How I Feel

Like I already stated, I, we have really enjoyed this magazine. It has been very informative about today’s hunter and fisherperson. The pages are colorful and not too crowded.

Outdoor Life works really hard to get information out to their readers from all parts of the country, and in my opinion they do a great job! The cover is always done in an attractive manner as well as the article titles. The jokes are sometimes funny and sometimes a little corny. And the cartoons are funny as well sometimes. I have to admit though that I have to look at one or two a few times before I get it. I am not really a hunter after all, but the fishing ones I have no trouble with.

I like being able to find out things that I can talk about with my husband. And if I have a question I can ask him and of course he knows the answer. This magazine has given us something to talk about that is of interest to him and that is a good thing. Quality time always is!

The cost of a regular subscription is around $10.00, but know that there are ways of getting cheaper. (if you use

those magazine discount places that is.)

I hear my husband talking at church with other men about something he had read, so I guess I made the right choice in getting him this magazine. These men could talk for hours about hunting and fishing!

This makes a nice gift for the man or men in your life ladies and children. Birthday, Christmas, Father’s Day, or just because you love him gift!

I hope that this has helped in some kind of way.

God Bless!
