The best choice

If one is looking for a magazine that can help you unravel the details of today’s complex financial products/ services, this is the last stop. At a cost of Rs.20 per piece, and being issued twice a month, this is a real good magazine to subscribe to. There are good deals for 5 year subscription. I have been reading this magazine from 1999 onwards (it was "Intelligent Investor" then), and many of my crucial investment decisions have been influenced by information from this magazine. Hence I think a review of this one is very much relevant here.

Please note that I am not a hot shot banker or someone like that sitting on a pile of cash - I am a normal employee like most people in these columns.

I have been very impressed by their treatment of products like Mutual funds, ULIPs, insurance, home loans et al. You can find very sensible advise here all the time. In fact some of them are so simple and it would be foolish not to listen to. This magazine is not just for folks who want to take high risk with stocks. There is something in it for every type of investor - cautious, moderate and highly risk taking types. This magazine has been shouting since 2003 about the advisability of investing in mutual funds.

Their picks then have turned out to be phenomenal investment ideas.

The most noted was sundaram select midcap fund. They have very clearly demostrated their ability to guide the general public like me into very sensible investment decisions. I have been very impressed by this magazine. I would strongly recommend readers who wish to deploy their money more fruitfully to read this magazine. Even if one can implement a small fraction of their ideas, I think there are big financial gains to be made. Good work, outlook money!
