Care and feeding of your hair

Here’s some simply non product home remedies and advice for hair care:

Hair should be washed everyday. We wash our faces and hands because they get dirty and the pores get clogged, and the same thing happens to your hair. You have to wash the dirt, dust, cigarette smoke, and other everyday debris from your hair. Washing your hair everyday with a gentle or diluted shampoo for a minute or two beats a day’s worth of damage from pollution, and dirt.

When it comes to scalp care, most hair care professionals advise massaging the scalp with fingertips(no nails!) Scalp massaging is great for relieving tension and speeding up the removal of hair that’s ready to shed.

How to: Starting from the nape of your neck and with your fingers spread like starfish, use the pads of your fingers, working forward slowly, going against the direction of your hair and maintaining constant pressure while massaging.

’100 strokes a night’ is very bad for your hair, weather it be a soft bristle brush, or a comb, it is always a no no. Heavy handled brushing is apt to tear or break hair. It is not the route to shiny hair.

Try your best not to brush hair while it is wet. Hair is most vulnerable when wet, and brushing can do real damage. If you need to untangle damp hair, use a wide toothed comb, or simply use your fingers.

To add beautiful shine to your hair: dilute apple cider vinegar in water and rinse with it after you shampoo.

For an overall conditioner, use mayonnaise and leave it on between 5 to 60 minutes. MAKE SURE TO SHAMPOO OUT THOROUGHLY.

Try to air dry as much as possible:  overuse of electric curlers as well as blow dryers and curling irons damages and dries out hair. If you must use a blow dryer, try to use one with no more that 1, 000 watts, and reduce the temperature and power level as your hair dries. In such a case, protect your hair with a diffuser.

For Winter: nothing is worse for dry hair that dry indoor air. It is a good idea to use a humidifier. It moistens the hair in while your sleep.

And last but not least, when you go swimming, apply baby oil  before. Use about  1/2 tsp(more for longer hair) and work it in. Oil coats hair and prevents them from absorbing the harsh chlorine.

Spraying baby oil to split ends in curly hair temporarily closes the split ends by coating them.

hope this helps
