Overdrive arguably boasts of being the number one auto mag in the country having ousted Autocars programme on CNBC with a snazzy show, the magazine is at its peak right now though the magazine was a innovation in its heydays
For all of us with the only choice of Auto India which had become like our government department with take it or leave it philosophy overdrive sure was a breath of fresh air albeit with a steep price ( at that time )of Rs.60
But the indian readers who never had any quality choice at that time were treated to a feast of auto reporting with exclusives, scoops & posters becoming the norm
Even at its peak, Overdrive always remained a magazine which always added sugar to its comments & never took a stand (its understandable, coz to remain in this field you cannot afford to antagonize the very powerful auto companies who fill their pages with ads)
With the advent of Topgear, Car India, Autocar, BS Motoring and the rejuvenated Auto India, overdrive has a fight on its hands having to match the world class standards offered by the others
also the service and feed back were two departments where this magazine lacked compared to other magazines,
where, god forbid if you miss a issue or have problems with receiving a gift,
you will have to run after pillar to pillar, send a hundred mails call innumberable times...(I have experienced this personally)
overall if it improves all these minor things I think overdrive will retain its DRIVE
