One time watch...

On Sunday afternoon, I wanted to take my wife for a movie. I have special liking for 3D movies. Thats how I came across Oz the Great and Powerful. I had seen its ads once or twice but had never seen its trailer even once. I checked for reviews online and came to know that it is an average movie and some reviews claimed its boring. The movie is in 3-D and this was the sole reason why I choose to see it.

Since story of the movie is mentioned in many other reviews I will omit that in this review.

The movie turned out to be good during the beginning half hour. The 3D visuals were awesome in the tornado scene where escaping Oscar’s balloon is sucked into. The story in next 30-45 minutes is too slow and boring. The excitement starts again at the end of the movie when the Wizard of Oz fights  the evil witch sisters.

This story does not use the 3D effects to its optimum like we got to see in Alice in Wonderland which was also for kids. The major part of the movie in the middle consists of conversations and plotting by evil Witch Evanora which can put people to sleep. Even though I was engrossed I could not help yawning during that part. Even in the last part when story becomes interesting the 3D effects were not there much but were adequate. The movie will not thrill you.

Had this movie not been in 3D I would not have gone for it. It is just one time watch.
