Everyone Needs a Guardian Angel

Some people wait their whole lives to find their soul mates and some are very lucky to have found them just like Holly and Gerry. The souls of the book PS, I love you. This lovely book will make you smile, laugh, feel happy, feel sad, Cry your eyes out… the way the characters have been written it makes you feel one of them. Its amazing to see someone love their partner soo much

Childhood sweethearts Holly and Gerry, They could finish each others sentences, they laughed even when they fought, no one could imagine them without each other, People used to give their relation as an example of love. Until the most unthinkable happens and Gerry dies due to brain tumor. Holly’s life comes to a stand still. She had never imagined her life without Gerry. But then suddenly she finds out that the one man she loved the most had left her 10 notes one for each month. The man who knows her better than anyone sets out to teach her that life goes on.

Holly’s best friends, Sharon and Denise bring life into the novel as well as Holly’s life, The funny family of Holly, her eccentric sister Caira, her know all brother Richard, her reliable brother Jack and the youngest Declan who is always onto something and her loving mother Elizabeth who help her come over through her mourning and keep the readers attached to the book. They make you feel like being a part of their family.

Gerry though dead feels lively in the book; his presence is very lively made. The small incidents between Gerry and Holly make you smile and cry together. The pain and sadness that Holly goes through at the opening of each note is very briefly described. The love with the person who no longer shall return is so deep that you shall be eager to know what the next note shall hold. Through every note Gerry teaches Holly to move on, with the help of her friends and noisy loving family Holly finds herself becoming braver than ever before. She matures with very move and so matures her relations, she learns to cherish the memories and presence of Gerry and not run away from them.

The incident of the karaoke where Gerry’s friend and Sharon’s husband John tells Holly about the presence of Gerry, make you feel close to John’s feeling just through that one sentence. The most touching part of the novel is the time when Holly is giving away all the items related to Gerry except her memories, and the way how she says goodbye to all the items one by one, the pain she would be feeling there, the happy memories that she shares with us is very very touching.

The novel is a emotional as well as a witty one, a book you shall love to read and reread.

Everyone needs a Guardian Angel. Holly too realised that life is for living but it always helps if there’s an angel watching over you. And Her’s was – GERRY
