I was told by a friend that mostly disgruntled customers of goodsand services come to mouthshut to rant about their bad experience. Since I hadto transfer my household goods from Mumbai to Gurgaon this January, I decidedto speak to people who had earlier utilized the services of movers and packersin the past. I could hardly come across anyone in Mumbai. I then turned tomouthshut for reviews. That had me worried. Very worried in fact. Since most ofthe reviews here were negative for movers and packers.
So when I wentthrough the entire process of finalizing the movers and packers and thenactually getting my household goods packed and moved, I was totally in for ashock, of a positive kind. I thought about all those disgruntled souls who hadput up their reviews on mouthshut about their horrible experience. Immediatelyafter I had settled down in Gurgaon, I decided to be a "gruntled"customer and write something here for the Packways Movers and Packers whoprovided very professional and quick service.
An advisor fromPackway came to my house to inspect and survey the household goods and wentback with the list of all the stuff in the house. He came back within 24 hourswith a customized quote. They promised to stagger the entire process of packingand loading in 2 days since there was quite a lot to pack.
On the appointedday, a team of 5 men come ready in a small truck with their packing materials.They had everything that was required - bubble wrap for glass and fragileitems, butter paper for oil paintings, cardboard sheets for wooden and steelfurnitures, the works. They distributed the work amongst the 2 team of 2 menand 1 supervisor.
The supervisor’s role is crucial and please make sure that for your moving and packing, a smart supervisor is employed because he makes all the difference in the good or bad experience. He is the one knows for sure what is going in which carton. He makes a list of all the cartons with the contents of each carton and numbers them. Each carton is then numbered and again, the contents listed on the carton itself. They were so quick in packing that by 3-4 hours, 50 cartons were ready with my goods safely packed. My wife suddenly realized that there was a packet that she urgently needs that got packed. The supervisor asked her where it was kept and from a group of 50 cartons, he pulled out 2 cartons and opened them and left it for my wife to rummage through. She found her pack in one of the carton. We were quite impressed by the strict control of the goods going in their respective cartons.
I was sceptical about renting half a truck for the journey since I had read on mouthshut that if I share the container truck with another customer of the movers and packers, then there is bound to be delay. What normally happens is that the movers and packers come in with a normal truck, load your goods, then take it to their godown and then unload, keep the goods there till the time they are ready with another customer’s load. Then re-load your goods in the container truck along with the other customer’s goods. This is a sure way of damaging your good. I requested the coordinator to send me the container directly since I wanted the least amount of damage to my goods. And sure the coordinator complied to my request by not only sending in the container, but also another truck loaded with the other customer’s goods. His plan was to load my goods first in the container and then follow it up with the other customer’s goods in the front.This not only ensured that my goods got directly into the container, it also ensured that the truck started its outward journey from my premises.
The next day, while loading on the container truck, the supervisor came with a team of 8-9 men who were packing the final cartons and some men were taking down the already packed cartons. The supervisor was standing downstairs with a sheet of paper with 100 boxes marked from 1 to 100. As and when the men came down with a carton, he only had read out the carton number and cross out the box number on his sheet. In all there were 77 cartons. After all the stuff was loaded, hander over the list of cartons to me and took my feedback. I wrote “STRONGLY RECOMMENDED”.
At the time of leaving my premises (on a Sunday afternoon around 3 pm), they told me that I can expect the truck to reach Gurgaon the following Friday. I bade my goods and flew to Gurgaon the same evening to join my office the next day Monday.
I was working in my office the following Wednesday (3 days after the goods left my Mumbai premises) when I received a call from Packways that my goods were somewhere near IFFCO Chowk and I can take delivery by 12 noon. I was completely floored by evening when all my household effects were placed in their respective place without a single scratch. Please mark my words here “without a single scratch”.
Now here is little known company that is friendly, efficient, professional and takes care of your hard earned household goods. By all means, go for them.
