Yesturday I watched the movie Padmaavat in theatre.Talking about the movie, its a period drama movie.Talking about the story, Maharawal Ratan Singh, who is the ruler of mewar has got married.He’s married to Naagmati.But one day he suddenly met a princess i.e Padmavati in a jungle.He gets absolutely mesmerised by her beauty.So now he wants to marry Padmavati.Even Padmavati’s father agrees on to this marriage proposal.In this way both gets married with each other.So after getting married to Maharawal Ratan Singh Padmavati comes to his Palace to live with him.So both of them were living happily as husband wife under one roof.Also Maharawal Ratan Singh’s first wife, she too lives in the same palace.Now the other story was shown of Alauddin Khilji.Alauddin Khilji’s chacha i.e Jalaluddin Khilji wins the kingdom of delhi.So became the ruler of delhi.One day Alauddin Khilji’s eyes went on to his own chacha’s daughter i.e Mehrunissa.He sends a proposal of marrying his daughter to his chahca.So by this way they get married.So with this manner Alauddin Khilji’s chacha Jalaluddin Khilji becomes his father in law.So a normal life is going on in both the kingdoms.
Maharawal Ratan Singh has a Rajguru in his kingdom.One day he gets very angry with his Rajguru due to some situation.So the situation was he found out that his Rajguru was secretly watching both him and his wife Padmavati while they were in their personal space.So Maharawal Ratan Singh doesn’t like this thing.So he sacked or throw out Rajguru from his kingdom.Rajguru went to Alauddin Khilji’s kingdom.One day he tells Alauddin Khilji that if you haven’t seen Padmavati you haven’t seen anything.Alauddin Khilji is a character who is very phsyco, a character who thinks he can do whatever he wants.So by listening to Rajguru about Padmavati’s beauty, he badly wants her and he badly want to see Padmavati.For that he firstly put his hands forward for friendship in front of Maharawal Ratan Singh.When Maharawal Ratan Singh doesn’t accept his friendship proposal, he thought that he has to go out for a war on the kingdom of Maharawal Ratan Singh.So he comes with his army troops on the kingdom of mehwar to attack them.But he thinks differently while reaching on to their kingdom.So after so many months of staying over there he once again sends a friendship proposal in front of Maharawal Ratan Singh.So to avert the war Padmavati and Maharawal Ratan Singh both thinks that if Alauddin Khilji wants to come to their palace, its not a big deal.So Alauddin Khilji went to their palace and Maharawal Ratan Singh welcomes him.So while going back Alauddin Khilji requests him to show his wife so that he could able to meet her.Maharawal Pratap Singh doesn’t like this thing at all but eventually he agrees on to this.So Alauddin Khilji gets to see Padmavati for fraction of seconds and he gets clean bowled by her beauty.But he gets angry as he got allowed to see Padmavati for only for a fraction of seconds and he swears revenge.So after coming out he invites Maharawal Ratan Singh to his palace.Maharawal Ratan Singh went to his palace but Alauddin Khilji plays dirty as he makes him his prisoner.So to release him Alauddin Khilji demands that if his wife Padmavati will come here then he will release him.And Padmavati rises to the occasion.So by somehow she saves her husband and takes him out from Khilji’s prison.So after that Khilji declares war against the kingdom of Maharawal Ratan Singh.So with this both indulges in a war and Maharawal Ratan Singh looses his life this battle.So after that Padmavati rather than being misused or exploited by Khilji, she comes into a decision that she should commit Johar and way back she took the permission of his husband of commiting Johar.Johar means rather than being sexually exploited by some other man it is better to jump into the fire.So in the last Padmavati along with other womens of Mewar commits Johar in front of Alauddin Khilji.
Talking about the performance, Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati has done brilliant job in terms of playing her character.Shahid Kapoor as Meharawal Ratan Singh has done excellent job in terms of playing his character.But for me the best performance was of Ranveer Singh as Alauddin Khilji who has outstanding job in terms of playing his character.
Talking about the music, the songs in the movie were too good.Even the picturisation of every song was a treat to watch.
Talking about cinematography, the director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has done brilliant job in terms of directing the movie.The visuals, the screenplay, the dialogues everything was above excellence.
