Spanning over 260, 000 hectares, Tasik Kenyir is the largest man-made lake in South East Asia. Sharing its border with Kelantan in the west and Pahang in the south, this immense lake also serves as another gateway to Taman Negara (National Park).
With about 340 islands which were once hilltops and highlands, more than 14 waterfalls, numerous rapids and rivers, Tasik Kenyir is also home to numerous species of freshwater fishes and exotic wildlife.

Me and six of my friends camped there for three days and two nights and we had a blast.
First of, the immense lake is beautiful! it changes colour depending on the time of the day and the light available. sometimes it’s deep green, sometimes it’s blue, or aquamarine. other days its black and forbidding.
the lake itself is hundred of feet deep so don’t try swimming off by yourself in it. too many people have died that way. instead, swim where there are safe reserves built into the lake.
Completed in 1991, the Gawi Jetty serves as the main gateway to Tasik Kenyir. Here, transfers by boat can be made available to the resorts, chalets and lodges located at various parts of the lake. With the current and growing influx of tourists to Tasik Kenyir, plans are afoot for another gateway, the nearby Pengkalan Utama which will be equipped with bigger and better facilities.
From Tasik Kenyir, you can take a boat ride to the national park.

you can camp and rough it out if you want to or book a resort and simply relax and unwind. I went camping on Poh Island. Due to some special chemical properties os this particular island, it does’t have any leeches. the only island in Kenyir to be like that! amazing isn’t it?
