Once again another parallel cinema maker tries his hand at making a commercial film. this time it is amol palekar who takes a rajasthani folk tale and makes an attempt to convert it into a masala potpourri.
The story of Paheli is based on a rajasthani folk tale calledDhuvidha- the problem. the story is central to Lacchi, the characters played by Rani Mukherjee. it is how Lacchi falls in love with a ghost who exactly resembles her own husband. this becomes the point of problem when lacchi is forced to decide whom to choose from- the ghost she fell in love with or the man she is married to. here the ghost is none other than SRK.
Paheli is a film that has a unison of both types of film-making. a story and director which makes it a film of parallel cinema and simultaneously a cast and cost to make it a commercial film. so it will undoubtedly attract all types of movielovers.
Amol Palekar along with his wife Sandhya try to convert a sensible story into commercial success. and the kind of film making amol palekar has been involved in, it would be undoubted a beautifully made film.
Rani Mukherjee seems to be the favour of the season. suddenly she seems to be experimenting with all kinds of cinema. She has already had two hits this year with Black and B&B, and if her luck favours her this time also with paheli, she is on her hatrick. in the movie promos, Rani looks convincing as the rajasthani village girl and definitely her act would be nothing but the best.
SRK returns after a long hiatus and that also as a ghost. last he was seen romancing Preity in veer zaara. In paheli, SRK not only comes alive with a new character but also in a totally new look. he has an artificial moustache and wears dhothi and pagdi in the film. The promos promise once again that just give a role to SRK and see how he will set the box office at fire. Not only that, yet again SRK dons two hats after Main Hoon Na, he is also the producer of the film. SRK was so impressed by the story that he was tempted to produce the film.
With Rani and SRK, the film also has Amitabh Bachchan who is doing a guest appearance in the film, and is probably the problem solver in the film. The film also has Juhi Chawla and Suniel Shetty as the supporting cast.
The locales of the film give a rustic and authentic look to the film. the songs of the film are very good and are well picturized.
What is left to see is whether the audiences will reach the theatre to solve the Paheli !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
