Paheli is the dullest and among the worst movies I have seen ever. I agree with many of the reviews here that its biggest fault is its script story and screenplay.
Story: A newly wed couple was just returning back from their shadi, as they stay in the mid to rest where a bhoot stays and the bhoot gets crush over the girl(rani). As soon as the husband(srk) leaves her for long trip the bhoot takes his look and enters her house. But in the begining itself he tells all to the girl and asks for her consent for a relationship which in actual we call ditch and betrayal. Finally when the real husband returns back and finds the wife pregnant and another person occupying his seat as well as being derecognised as real one, the paheli deepens.
In fact the story has no climax neither any suspense as the agreement between bhoot and rani happens within 20 minutes of movie, and in remaining time you watch idhar udhar ka zabardasti ka sceens, which simply kills and drags the movie. Plot was just for a small story or tv serial and not for movie. Watching the movie it really looked like I was watching a tv serial with good camera and sets!
Its such a third class movie with no brains that one with sick mind and banal attitude to show interest and classic arts etc, can only adjudge this movie a good movie. Watching this movie was total pain as its full of songs. at every 10 minutes you face a song. and all songs are in same genre. no change!
Performance:
Rani Mukherji has stolen the show here, supressing shahrukh. Shahrukh had nothing challenging in playing bhoots role as its just a hauwwa. he had to play a husband role which was easy to play and he did ok. But best performers was Rajpal Yadav. He was the only person who kept the escaping audience back to their seat, though for a very little time! Anupam Kher was ok. Dont expect much to watch AB here as he is here just for 10 minutes hardly.
Direction is fine as well as camera cinematography is very good. Music I did not like as all sounded same and slow.
In overall one can count this movie among the worst of this year. You can imagine the condition that even peoples who had come with family had walked out by the intermission, and I was among the batch of fools who sat till the end when the hall was almost empty. A Big Bakwaas Movie. Better wait for Sarkar and Dus.
