We took the trip in April this year. Good we planned early( In Aug 2011) since the rates rise steeply as the dates get closer.
We loved it - for an Indian family this is a dream holiday. Surprisingly the train is full of foreigners( Only 3 Indian Families were in the train). Every single thing is taken care of - the service is superb.
Rates are not high - if you planned a similar holiday by car you would probably take double the time with the hassle of changing hotels every day.
