Okay, future Palio Owners... Heres the Low-down about one of the best buys on the Indian roads presently, from a Palio owner himself:
Dont look for great interiors - Hey, youre getting a semi-luxury car with technology filled up to the brim and great, strong build. Just how can we expect Fiat India to sell this car with the under 5 lakhs price tag, if they soup up the interiors also? Its all about the costings involved. So all those who keep moaning about the plain jane interiors - stop already...
I also keep hearing about her low pick-up being mentioned quite often by people. Hey, the palios built like a tank. Literally. That means more weight & stability but this can mean low pick-up for a car. Youve 1250kgs of a solidly built car, with an AC that freezes you in minutes and decent mileage for its capabilities. Just how would it be possible for any car manufacturer to provide us with great pickup AND great mileage? Doesnt add up, does it? Thats why the Palio might seem a little sluggish...but then we arent exactly talking F1 here, are we?
I ve had quite a few people write to me asking about mileage comparisons of the Palio with the wagon R & the Indica. I have told them same as Im writing here - You cant really compare. The Palio is a heavier, robustly built car thats technologically more complex than both of the other two. Take her out the wild, open freeways and she how shes stretches every rupee of Petrol to the max. While you could possibly let the other two cars zip along the same freeways too, the palio owner would be sitting smug & safe while doing a 130km/h & having great mileage, while the other two car owners might be worrying about about how to keep the cars steady while trying to do so - though theyll be having great mileage too. So should we talk mileage only always, at the cost of every other priority in car? The Palio is the safest deal for under 5 lakhs.
Right, I hope this info will help people better when they make their choice of which car to buy.
