People would love to have secretaries for a variety of reasons.. I could also love to have one of the sleek 36 x 24 x 36 models .... but cant afford one... not been quite popular in my company..... on the other hand.. the model that I own is much much smaller.. and yes it does not nag...
Yes I am a proud owner of a PALM Professional my digital companion my life support and my secretary ... I know I know writing a review about something old and outdated... but kya karu.. abhi tak itna paisa nahi juta paya ki usko replace karu...
I have owned this model since 1998 and has been a part of my life since then.. It is a bit bulky and heavy not sleek and lite like the palm V models and it cost me a bomb 18000 bucks to be exact.. But it was something that I liked to own rather that the stupid casio diaries doint around the market... and at that time it was outa the world... and with 1 mb of RAM I used to wonder how did so much of applications rest in there..
Sync was the best thing as I could keep a backup of the same on the desktop. Duracell Batteries used to cost me about 50 bucks a month as it use to use the AAA types...
Keeping birthday remainders, appointments, expense notes became more trendy and I became more organised. with applications like Teal Doc Viewer , I used to carry support documents of RH, E-books in pdb formats. Reading in the train became my favourite pasttime.. and not to forget the surprised faces of people trying to see what I am trying to do on a ridiculous looking device. Searching and adding new games and applications..Chess was the best game of all.... I still remember the amazement on my girlfriends face when she saw her photograph on the palm.. well I was a big showoff... It was a bit trendy to fiddle with the palm.
Now my digital companion awaits another sad turn when I replace it with a newer version of which I have not decided as of yet. (actually awaiting someone to gift me something new...). It has outlived its life.. by serving its purpose for the past 3-4 years.. It does look battered and now I have to retire it... I would still recommend people to buy a Handheld device.. like a PALM... cause the little no nonsense piece of chips would give you the value for your hardearned money.
A lower end Palm with 1 mb of Ram would cost somewhere around 6, 000 bucks and a higher end color unit with all the goodies packed in would cost you about 35, 000 bucks. Handspring also uses PALM OS and is avaliable in varieties of colors.
