Which os?

Palm os used to be(and maybe to some extent still is) easy to use.and simple in functionality. inside pocketpc os is much more powerful than palm.  meaning there’s a potential to write much more sophisticated applications on it compared to palm.with that comes a little bit of complexity.

the latest version of palm(5.0) is still not as powerful as ppc 3.0.i think 6.0 is coming out sometime in dec this year.then we’ll see how simple it is to use.

ppc pdas also used to boast better hardware.but that is no longer true. in fact I think now it’s tilting a little bit in palms favor - thanks to sony hardware.

so if you’re looking for a pda just for storing contacts etc. and are not too Windows savvy.i’d recommend the palm.

if you’re planning to do more with your pda(e.g. gps, run spreadsheets, presentations) and are more familiar with Windows.i’d recommend the ppc.

now which make/model. i’m not too familiar with palm os so i’ll sidestep this question on that platform. on the ppc platform, if you’re looking for something small(e.g. shirt pocket) and not too complicated functionality.i’d recommend the ipaq 22xx series or the toshiba 330. for top of the line, i’d recommend the new dell x7 or toshiba.i think the ipaq 55xx series are way over-priced.

you should be able to get a simple-functionality one for$200-$300 range and a high-func(wifi, bluetooth etc) for around$350-$500.
