This is my 1st Panasonic Cordless phone. I have used GE before and it was wonderful. I was looking for an inexpensive easy to use cordless phone which will have good sound output. I tried to buy one from Rediff.com, but that turned out to be a disappointment. You can read about it in my review on Rediff.com.
Coming to KX TC2100...
Ease of use: 8/10.
The dial is very well laid out. But the keypad is not lighted, so calling in the dark will be an issue.
Build Quality: 8/10.
It feels sturdy, should last long. So far my 2 year old toddler hasnt managed to break it :)
Sound Output: 7/10
When you call others using this phone, the sound they hear is not as strong or clear as a corded phone. It slightly lacks in this aspect. I have tried calling my cell using this phone and I could make out the difference between this cordless phone and other corded ones. But while receiving calls on this phone, there is good sound output.
Range: 6/10
We have a 4 bedroom apartment. Its range is adeqate for our home. I have heard that digital cordless phones have better range. This being an analog one, its range is limited to approximately 50-60 feet from the base.
Features: 5/10
Considering this came at around Rs 1100, I did not expect too many features. It does have speed dialing, 10 number memory, handset locator, wall mountable etc. But no choice of ring tones, answering machine etc.
Overall its a good product. I would recommend it for anyone who is looking for a basic cordless phone with decent sound output. If you are looking for a feature rich cordless phone, this wont be a good choice.
