I made a purchase from Big Bazaar Kolkata..Baguihati.
The item was a Koryo microwave with grill, which I was promised was a retail brand of the Pantaloons India group of companies itself. I was promised it came with a 1 year trouble free assurance period. When opened it came without the bare minimum of guarantee/warranty documents. Its demonstration failed when your technician arrived, as the door was found to be damaged at the time it was taken out of its packing. Even the demonstration toll free number that was given to me was not printed on any accompanying literature but just scribbled down on a chit of paper. It seems to my colleagues that I bought the stuff at a garage sale/ or out of my attic or from a haat in shyambazar.
The worst part is that I bought it, on behalf of my colleagues to gift to one of our team members on his marriage. I by passed better known brands as I was reassured by the fact that it was under the Pantaloon’s banner. As far as I can see, I have been taken for a ride by expensively advertised brand names like Big Bazaar and Pantaloons.
