Parachute Lite Hair Oil is 80% mineral oil

I have been using this from 2 months. It was gifted to me by a relative.

It was only last week that I happened to read the ingredients. I was shocked. I wish I had seen this earlier.

Parachute Lite Hair Oil contains Mineral oil(79.7% v/v), coconut oil(20% v/v), fragrance with Jasmine extract, Benzophenone-3.

It is a wonder that marico calls it coconut oil. Is there no govt regulation? I mean if you have 80% palm oil+ 20% mustard oil, surely it is NOT mustard oil.

Similarly I find it blatantly misleading that 80% mineral oil is being branded and sold as coconut oil lite.

WHAT IS MINERAL OIL?

According to the Environmental Working Group, mineral oil is derived from petroleum and may be contaminated with cancer-causing polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs). Mineral oil aggravates acne and negatively impacts skin function, causing it to age prematurely. This oil is a common ingredient in anything that requires a smooth gliding action.

Great! So I have been using a toxin on my hair, which can give me cancer, increase acne, and age me prematurely.

Well, I don’t care about what the fragrance or styling is with this oil. I don’t want anything to do do with any petroleum product, let alone use it on my hair or skin. I would suggest the same to all.

NOTE:  Before companies started branding & using mineral oil in beauty products, mineral oil was predominantly used as a mechanical lubricant. Yikes!
